No "Stairway"?! Denied!

"Here's 'Stairway to Heaven', which Americans have used to jam classic rock radio down listeners' throats for over 40 years. I know this wasn't the intent of Jimmy Page and Robert Plant (derisive comments about 'Stairway' from Plant are well-known and difficult to ignore), but the legacy of 'Stairway' in America, at least, cannot be altered."

Hot 106: #3 – Bad to the Bone

Kent and I part ways a bit on this installment of the Hot 106. He's able to come to terms with George Thorogood, but I'm afraid I'm past reconciliation with Thorogood's entire catalog. Either way, classic rock radio would do well to consider our suggestions.

Hot 106 #1: “The Joker”

Some time ago, in an effort to (futilely) improve "classic rock radio" that ultimately amounted to a lot of primal-scream-type-therapy, I came up with a list of 106 songs that should be banished to "classic rock hell" for all eternity. Being the most excellent stewards of rock that we are, my friend Kent Caudle (of Pirate George Letters fame) and I continue our efforts to replace said songs with much better alternatives.

Taking it from the top, today's entry is all about the first song on that list: "The Joker" by Steve Miller. Kent jumps in by asserting his right to eschew Steve Miller altogether. I weigh in more diplomatically on this one.
